  1. I’m guessing the question is whether or not to straighten your hair??? If not, I totally misunderstood the post! 😛 But if it is, I say go for it. I straighten my hair every day…have a straightener. Not that my hair is curly…just wavy and I realised that straightening it means I can maintain it much more easily given that it’s pretty long.

    1. you guessed it right sweetie..it’s about straightening …hey you mentioned the straightener..you meant the iron right ? So is it safe to use it by yourself and daily???

      1. Oh yay! I was first! It’s been a while…

By straightener I did mean an iron…it’s safe to use at home. I don’t know whether the straighteners over there are different though…the one I have, I bought here. So far there’s been no damage to my hair, touchwood. In fact, the hairdresser was surprised to find out I straighten my hair everyday because it’s so shiny 😛 The ends sometimes look a bit frazzled but then, I always had split ends even without a straightener. The one I use is a Remington one. I have two…recently bought a wet to straight hair one which was on sale (from $99 to $39) to use occasionally when I wash my hair before going out or something.

Check out some straighteners before buying. For me, some years ago, I asked a haridresser to straighten my hair and she said she doesn’t like doing it because it uses a lot of chemicals and it would be better to use a straightener. It was after that I began using one more regularly. And given that I have never coloured my hair or used any other chemicals (apart from shampoo & conditioner) I figured I probably wasn’t doing much harm…

        I’ve written a whole essay now! 😛

          1. @ Nu
Nu, go for it, I am SO glad I straightened my hair. Mine was all wavy and frizzy and voluminous, so it was tough to keep it open, no I do it all the time.
However, I do the chemical straightening once a year and it lasts me like 8 months, and I have been doing it for 4 years, and my hair, is well, good, not falling, and definitely a hundred times better than before. The remaining 4 months, I straighten using an iron (Remington as above, and it is good, cost me 2k) to kill the new growth waves. Once a week though

@Psych You straighten everyday? I seem to find no issues too, but I read bad stuff about it, so I do it just once a week, guess I should experiment too 🙂

            1. DI…I have heard that it’s not good…initially I did it every day but now it’s more like every two days…basically because I wash my hair every two days. We’ll see how it goes… 🙂

  2. Dont straighten your hair is my honest suggestion. I hate that totally. I feel the natural tresses are so beautiful. 🙂

Keep us posted on what you do to your hair !!! 😉

    1. Oh no no..don’t be sorry Vimmu…good that you stopped cutting hair for others 😉 At least they’re out of their bad hair cuts now 😉

  3. I don’t know anything about this. I have no experience – never done it. 😀 But if you want to experiment, go ahead, do it and then if you don’t like it, then we can always go back to the original right?

  4. I say go for rebonding (L’Oreal or Schwarzkopf)…
I did it few years ago and I had the perfect silky tresses for around 3 years!!! Woohooo!!! Gotta do it before wedding again! 😀

    GO FOR IT GIRL!!!

  5. If you are talking about chemically straightening your hair..I would say no..You are nice hair..why put a bunch of chemicals in them..

If you are talking about using a flat iron to straighten your hair, I would say it is good to do for a change once in a while. Flat Iron does tend to damage the hair because of the excess heat if used it very very regularly..but for once in a while..change is always good 🙂

    1. Hmm..I think this is a nice solution…whenever I wish I can flatten my hair with the iron instead of permanently straightening them….Like PB also said above…she uses the iron and shez happy with it 🙂

      Thankieee Comfy dearest 🙂

  6. i feel leaving your hair in its natural form adds more personality…but then again straightening your hair makes it more manageable and it makes u have less bad hair days

Go figure – am in the same boat as u 😀

try it once – no harm done and wait for it to grow out…

    1. Ya that’s right but I’m just scared of the damage that the process may cause to my otherwise healthy and nice hair 😐

What you too thinking to straighten ?? Read all the comments here…you’ll get a good amount of real time gyaan 🙂

  7. Well I hope your hair is not as rebellious as mine? Mine defies all the laws of gravity 😯 But still, somehow I am never comfortable with experimenting on it 😦 For one, I am a nervous wreck when inside a parlour and 2 I have this feeling that if I straighten my curly hair, it might fall off completely from my head to take revenge on me 😡

So what was I saying? Yeah, be careful about tampering your hair as they say it leads to loads of problems after a certain age.

    1. Grrrrr….did you say anything about the age and all stuff here Saks ??? 😐 I’m young I’m young !!! 😀

Well no,thank god,my hair pretty obedient and co-operate with me all the time 🙂 they’re a bit thin though but shiny and silky 🙂 Touch Wood !

Straightening is just an idea for a new look…but that’s what…I don’t want to ruin my hair in the name of style..that’s why seeking suggestion from you gurus around 😉

    1. oh yes you’ve straight hair..how could I forget !!! And boss where were you all these days huh ??? Missed you…

about the doubts [of straightening] I’ll get in touch with you then.. 🙂

      1. dekho humare pyaar ka mazak mat urao .. hum bahut udaas ho jaate hain.. oh btwe… have a case to attend in Bhopal next week… thinking if Indore is not too far.. msg me addy if cool with ya 😉

      1. I usually blow dry my hair for functions…

The moment I land in God’s Own Country, my hair is all frizzy (‘coz of the humidity)and I just hate it!
Here, it is smooth and wavy though. 🙂

And, I don’t know how to use an iron, so a bit tensed. Either I will go for rebonding or will buy a professional dryer… I mean the salon kinds, big ones. I have the travel mini ones. 😀

        1. If you chemically straighten it, you should use shampoos for treated hair and deep conditioners. If that is taken care of, there’s no much problem. And once in a month or two, you can go to the salon and apply hair mask.
