This is an extract of an article read in Times Life supplement sometime last year! The title of the article says ‘Let ‘butter’ sense prevail!’
Often we are at a loss how to react to a particular situation. At times ,the weaker amongst us allow others and society in general to dictate our actions. This can lead to messy situations since we are responding to what others feel, not giving in to our own instinctive reactions!
You may or may not feel insulted, but those around are eager to convince you of your humiliation, saying things like ‘How could he have insulted you like that! You must give it back to him!’ OR ‘ Poor you, I can imagine how you must be feeling. Don’t worry, your time will come!’
So much so that you are forced to to stop smiling and start worrying about what exactly is wrong with you and how come you never noticed!
If queen Kaikeyi had followed her instincts and stayed happy at her stepson Rama’s ascension to the throne, she would have chosen a life of happiness and splendour for herself. Instead she allowed her insecurities to be fed by her maid Manthara, insisted on her Bharata being crowned king and Rama being exited; as a result she lost her husband Dashratha and ultimately died a lonely, brokenhearted woman!
So the points to take from this are:
You can feel insulted or honored, hurt or pleased, happy or sad, as it suits you!
Why let others dictate the way you feel? If you do not feel angry, who can ever manage to anger you? With control over the way you feel and react you can manage the situation around you with incredible ease!
There are many Mantharas around, whose life’s purpose is rabble-rousing, who go around feeding on others’ misfortunes and exaggerating the same!
Remember, once you let yourself be led by what they think you should be doing, these same people will also be the first to jump onto the other side and leave you alone!

Wordy Wednesdays are created to break the monotony of Wordless Wednesdays. As the name suggests it would contain lot of words- stuff like funny / sarcastic/ love/ life quotes,b’day / sorry / love you / miss you/ friendship/ general messages, poetry in Hindi & Marathi, facts and figures, etc.
Please note that whatever gets posted under the tag ‘Wordy Wednesday’ comes from the cuttings found in my old diary-dating back to 1990s.
The exact source of these cuttings are not known to me today-blame the memory .But these could be any of the following
-news papers,magazines,cartoon strips,teens today,greeting cards, reader’s digest etc.
If you recall having read it somewhere please let me know the source so that I’ll update with credits, thank you.
