Dear Chirpy-Your habits

Dear Chirpy,

One must learn how-to-grow-up-fast from you children. You are 1.5 years young already, can you believe it? Oh yes you can but your mum cannot. She still recalls you in the form of that tiny human being handed over to her a year back. You will not remember that cause you haven’t witnessed that. Just through my letters may be someday you’ll have a fair idea of how you as a baby were but that’s that…the intensity of it all will be felt by only me and your dadda.

With so many cute things to note down there are few peculiar habits that you have started showing us,which need a serious mention in this series of letters that I write to you. Like I read on one of the blogs recently that these writing about a baby’s childhood is kind of a creation of ‘that place’ for the child where he/she can go,to know his/her younger self.

In our days, people used to write dairies to make note of the things happening in their life at that moment. Some people still do but now blogs have come in handy,so there…I hope this place becomes your ‘that’ place 🙂

Any way, check out this list …

  1. You have to make a fountain of water by your mouth,as a signal that you don’t need to drink anymore, instead of simply saying no.
  2. Once you are done drinking your quota of water/juice/shakes,you have to throw away the remaining drink and also the glass, instead of simply keeping the glass aside.
  3. You have to scratch your right ear when you are sleepy. Why only right ear, tell tell?
  4. You love writing [or modern art shall I say?] on any paper that you get hold of. When we give you the pencil/ crayons, you first use it with your right hand and then shift it to your left and continue writing. You have to constantly shuffle right and left hand. Are you going to be ambidextrous?
  5. You have your own little library of some 10-12 books and you love them to the core. But the moment you see me with a book, you have to read only that book. Nothing else matters to you than mamma’s book!
  6. You love music for sure, especially when you are getting massaged you have to listen to the music. You don’t get the massage done unless the music is switched on! What’s with this music and massage thing, spa style eh?
  7. When I sing you nursery rhymes or other songs you listen to them so intently [or so it appears] that you have to fold your hands and sit quietly-Your dadda always tells me that you mean to tell me that you are bugged with my singing..sob sob!!! Really? 😥
  8. If you want something, you should have that something right then. Nothing placates you or no diversion works with you. Goes to show you are becoming ziddi day by day, sigh!
  9. When you call out for me you have to say ‘aai’ and ‘mamma’ all at the same time, like you are calling 2 people 😀 and while calling your dadda you have to  only take his name, which you learnt to say very early! When will you start saying Baba, darling?
  10. Your favorite task in the kitchen these days is to collect the potatoes from the basket and put them one by one in your grand mother’s lap. And you do it every single day 😀
Grow up quickly a little more princess, so that I can ask you what’s with potatoes, music and writing with both hands 🙂 Yes adult minds are illogically inquisitive,so you get prepared for question being shot at you by your silly mother who clings to every piece of cloth of yours, memorizes every single word you say, notes down all dates of your milestones achieved, cherishes every single time you call her aai and holds her hands against her chest every single time you give her hug and run away leaving behind the warmth of your pure love in her!
Love you princess,
Yours Aai!

  1. Cute little princess she is.. 🙂 ha ha some peculiar habits like scratching the right ear will remina etched forever in your mind.. 🙂 She sits in such a calm pose while you are singing then there are only two options either she is very impressed by your singing or she has given up.. take your pick 🙂

  2. that’s so cute…she has indicated love for spa very early 😀 and, yeah, she wants a huger library 🙂 and, may be she will turn out a left hander!!! or, relieving the pain 🙂 but, these letters are really cute and I am sure she will feel very happy reading them later in life!!! oh btw, do keep on downloading your blog timely to keep a copy with you safe.

    1. yeah I can see that spa twinkle in her eyes 😉 oh I would love to expand her library but right now her habit goes to show that even then she’ll want to read the book in my hand 😛 Oh yes I’ve planned to save these letters elsewhere too 🙂

  3. so cute 🙂 R used to use his left hand more often at one time causing us to speculate if he’d turn out to be a lefty but gradually he began to show his preference for the right. And, no he is not ambidextrous 🙂

  4. 1.25! 1.5 kaise? I have been counting months since I read this 😐
Sigh. Man, these notes will be so much more precious once all this is a thing of the past. Guaranteed laughs, and sentimental tears too 🙂 Mmuuuaah to C!

  7. Aaah. I love toddler hood. A cuddly baby all over the house. A little strong personality of her own. Just want to hold these moments forever 🙂

  8. And forgot to say.. these letters are going to be so precious… I am so glad you are doing this for Chirpy.. she is going to enjoy it 🙂 🙂 My mom has all our memories etched in her heart forever that she keeps in repeating every single incident with any chance she gets,,, now we know what we did from the time we were born.. but we would have loved to have a journal 🙂

    1. yes that’s precisely the agenda 🙂 I want Chirpy to know how she was as a child and it will serve as a memoir for me too when this little bridie grows up 🙂

  9. A very precious post this is 🙂 Chirpy is going to love you for writing this when she reads it 🙂
Bless her, the little princess 🙂

  10. We as mommies, should record all mundane events of our toddlers like this…u know we may enjoy and cherish these moments now but as these are so small that might forget later on…..another +ve side of blogging 😀

Really sweet post…and i can relate to all the activities of Chirpy as my kiddo is of same age 🙂

Assume that she loves ur singing and continue ur song…i do that 😀

Good that she is only keeping potatoes in her granny’s lap…my baby tries to eat raw potato!!!

    1. hahaah …I know how funny it can get at times…eating raw potatoes is thankfully not struck her but I’m sure someday she’s going to do something like it 😀 and how commonly do children love dirt and all things dirt, right? dunno where they learn it from 😀

  11. Oh she is just like Sammy who still has not figured out which is the best hand to hold a pencil. He can easily switch from one to the other…sigh!! There was a time when he used to hold the spoon in his left hand too. I must say I was a little freaked out but never forced him to use his right hand and just like that he switched to his right hand exclusively for eating 😛

Aww my little princess sure is a sweetie pie 🙂
